Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. Immediately after the tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’ At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. -Matthew 24:28-30
The Earth went Dark for 3 Hours during the Crucifixion of Jesus. Had someone else written about it? It was accompanied by a Great Earthquake that was written about it. In fact, according to Research, a Historian named Thallus testified and recorded that the Darkness was indeed caused by a Solar Eclipse. He wrote about the History of the Mediterranean, in about 50 AD.
Thallus or Thallos (Greek: Θαλλός), perhaps a Samaritan, [1] was an early historian who wrote in Koine Greek. He wrote a three-volume history of the Mediterranean world from before the Trojan War to the 167th Olympiad, 112-108 BC, or perhaps to the 217th Olympiad (AD 89-93) or 207th Olympiad (AD 49-52).Most of his work, like the vast majority of ancient literature, has been lost
This was only about 18 Years removed from the Crucifixion. His works have been lost but a copy did survive. The Copy of the Record was in the possession of an Early Christian Father named Julius Africanus, around 221 AD. In his Commentary, he reiterated that Thallus had documented that the Darkness that came over the Wrath was caused by a Solar Eclipse. Here is the misinterpretation and misunderstanding.
One must realize that the Darkness occurred at precisely Mid-Day. The Moon was not even out nor visible from Jerusalem to have cause such Darkness, etc. Because Passover is always on a Full Moon, it is impossible to have a Solar Eclipse at the same Day. So, it is presumed that it was a Lunar Eclipse. But here is the issue, there was a Total Lunar Eclipse or Blood Moon on that Day of the Crucifixion.
But it occurred near Midnight and in the USA or the Western Hemisphere on the other side of the Globe. The Solar Eclipse occurred because in deed, a Celestial Body came in-between the Sun the and the Earth. That Celestial Object, one contends, was Planet X, the Red Dragon, Nemesis, Nibiru, the Death Star, etc. One also postulates that this Flyby f the Death Star will again visit Earth during the Tribulation Period. And that it will coincide with the 2nd Passover of 2032.
Celestial Phenomena
It will follow the 2 prior Passovers from Exodus and the Crucifixion Blood Moons. IN the case of the Tribulation Period it will coincide with the breaking of Seal 4. It is what will occur, in similar fashion.
I looked when He opened the 6th Seal, and behold, there was a Great Earthquake; and the Sun became Black as Sackcloth of Hair, and the Moon became like Blood. And the Stars of Heaven fell to the Earth, as a Fig Tree drops its late Figs when it is shaken by a Mighty Wind.
-Revelation 6:12-13
To the Jews, this Celestial Phenomena, supernatural was have been a clear Sign that echoed the Experience their Forefathers also had with Moses. At that Time, there was a blood Moon the Night they left Egypt. And under the cover of Darkness, it was at that Lat Judgment that YHV judged Egypt was the slaying the 1st Born.
That is what Jesus was also as it states in Scripture, that ‘He was as the 1st Born of all Creation’. The Amazing Dichotomy was that the entire Globe, on both sides of the Hemispheres went completely Dark. The s that Jesu was the Author of Light and Life. Jesus created the Sun, Moon and the Star, etc.

DID THE ANCIENT HISTORIAN THALLUS WRITE THE HISTORY OF THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN? AND IF SO, WAS IT IN THE YEAR 50 AD?
The ancient historian Thallus is a somewhat obscure figure, but he is known primarily through secondary references, especially by later Christian writers. Here is what is generally understood about Thallus and his writings:
DID THALLUS WRITE A HISTORY OF THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN?
Yes—Thallus is believed to have written a history that included events from the Eastern Mediterranean, although his original works have not survived. What we know comes from citations and mentions by later authors, most notably the early Christian apologist Julius Africanus (c. 160–240 AD), who refers to Thallus in relation to the darkness that occurred during the Crucifixion of Jesus.
Julius Africanus mentions that Thallus wrote a "history in three books" and that he attempted to explain the darkness during the crucifixion as a solar eclipse. This suggests that Thallus's history covered events in the 1st century AD, and likely focused on events around the Eastern Mediterranean, including Judea and Rome's eastern provinces.
Was it written in 50 AD?
That date is plausible but not confirmed. Some scholars estimate that Thallus wrote his history sometime between 30 AD and 60 AD, which would make a date like 50 AD possible, but this is inferred, not definitively proven.
The problem is that we don't have Thallus’s actual texts—only fragmentary mentions. Because of that, dating his work precisely is speculative. However:
The mention by Julius Africanus (quoting Thallus) suggests that Thallus wrote before Africanus, obviously, and
The style and references imply a mid-1st century AD date, placing him as possibly one of the earliest non-Christian writers to mention events coinciding with the crucifixion.
Summary:
Question Answer
Did Thallus write about the Eastern Mediterranean? Yes, as part of a general history.
Was it in 50 AD? Possibly, but not certain. Estimates place his work sometime around 30–60 AD.

WOULD YOU LIKE A BREAKDOWN OF WHAT JULIUS AFRICANUS SAYS ABOUT THALLUS AND THE CRUCIFIXION DARKNESS?
Thallus records that the 3 Hours of Darkness during the Crucifixion of Jesus occurred because of a Solar Eclipse. Was this taken from Eye Witness? What is the Source?
Excellent and important question. The account attributed to Thallus regarding the three hours of darkness during the Crucifixion comes to us indirectly, through a citation by the early Christian historian Julius Africanus (circa 160–240 AD). Here's what we know:
Primary Source of the Claim: Julius Africanus
Julius Africanus, in a now-fragmentary work (often called Chronography), writes the following regarding the darkness at Jesus' crucifixion:
"On the whole world there pressed a most fearful darkness; and the rocks were rent by an earthquake, and many places in Judea and other districts were thrown down. This darkness Thallus, in the third book of his Histories, calls, as appears to me without reason, an eclipse of the sun."
This is the only surviving reference to Thallus on this matter. Africanus is disputing Thallus's explanation, pointing out that a solar eclipse cannot happen during a full moon, which is when Passover (and thus the Crucifixion) took place.
So what do we know about Thallus’s account?
Original text lost – We do not have Thallus's Histories, only Julius Africanus' critical mention.
Indirect Testimony – Africanus is paraphrasing or summarizing Thallus, not quoting him word-for-word.
Was it an eyewitness account?
Unclear. There is no indication that Thallus witnessed the event himself.
He might have recorded Traditions, Reports, or Annals circulating at the Time.
If Thallus wrote around 50 AD, he could have had access to First-Hand Accounts or Recent Oral Traditions, but this is conjectural.
Analysis: Could it have been an Eclipse?
Astronomically, a Solar Eclipse cannot occur during a Full Moon, because Solar Eclipses require a New Moon.
Since the Crucifixion occurred during Passover, which always coincides with a Full Moon, Africanus correctly refutes the Eclipse Explanation.
Some Researchers propose that Thallus was using “Eclipse” figuratively or as a Generic Term for unexplained Darkness (common in Ancient Writing), not necessarily referring to a Literal Astronomical Event. [Do not agree with this last Statement.]
Summary:
Element Description
Claim of Eclipse Thallus attributed the Darkness to a Solar Eclipse.
Source Quoted only through Julius Africanus.
Eyewitness? Unknown. No Evidence Thallus saw it himself. Possibly based on Earlier Records.
Was it accurate? Astronomically not possible during Passover. Likely a Supernatural Event.
Would you like a look at how this Topic connects to other early Non-Christian Sources referencing the Crucifixion or Cosmic Signs (like Phlegon or Tacitus)?

YES.
Excellent. Here's a deeper look at early Non-Christian Sources—especially Phlegon and Tacitus—who, like Thallus, may refer to Cosmic Signs or the Crucifixion of Jesus. These References are important in Historical Apologetics and the Broader Conversation about the Historical Reliability of Gospel Events.
1. Phlegon of Tralles (2nd century AD)
Who was he?
A Greek Historian who wrote a work titled ‘Chronicles’ (Olympiades), now lost.
He was a Freedman of the Emperor Hadrian and lived in the 2nd century AD.
What did he report?
Phlegon is said to have recorded an Unusual Darkness and Earthquake:
‘In the 4th Year of the 202nd Olympiad [i.e., AD 32–33], there was the greatest Eclipse of the Sun, and it became night in the 6th Hour of the Day [Noon] so that Stars appeared in the Heavens. There was a Great Earthquake in Bithynia, and many things were overturned in Nicaea."
Sources quoting Phlegon:
Julius Africanus (again), mentions Phlegon as confirming the Darkness.
Origen (Against Celsus, Book 2.33): Explicitly mentions that Phlegon recorded the Darkness during Tiberius’s Reign, and that he attributed it to a Solar Eclipse, but Origen criticizes this explanation, similar to Africanus.
Relation to the Crucifixion:
The Timing and Description align well with Gospel Accounts of the Darkness during the Crucifixion (Matt. 27:45).
Like with Thallus, Phlegon’s Eclipse explanation is Astronomically impossible during Passover.
Scholars disagree on whether Phlegon was referring to the same Event or a Coincidental Regional Eclipse and
Earthquake, but the Details (Date, Darkness, Seismic Activity) are compelling.
2. Tacitus (c. 56–120 AD)
Who was he?
Roman Historian, Senator, and Governor.
Considered one of the most reliable Roman Historians.
What did he say?
In Annals 15.44, Tacitus writes:
‘Christus, from whom the Name [Christian] had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the Reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our Procurators, Pontius Pilate...’
Key details:
Confirms the Historical Crucifixion of Jesus under Pontius Pilate.
Notes that the Christian Movement originated in Judea and spread to Rome.
He does not mention Cosmic Signs like Darkness, but his reference is independent and hostile, making it valuable from a Non-Christian Standpoint.
3. Summary Comparison Chart:
Source Time Written Mentions Crucifixion Mentions Darkness/Eclipse Comments
Thallus c. 50s AD Possibly indirectly Yes – Solar Eclipse Quoted by Julius Africanus.
Phlegon c. 140 AD Not directly Yes – darkness at noon, earthquake, quoted by Africanus & Origen.
Tacitus c. 110 AD Yes – direct No, Confirms execution by Pilate.
Africanus c. 220 AD Yes Refutes Eclipse Explanation, Preserves Earlier Sources.
Conclusion:
Thallus and Phlegon both record a Striking Darkness, but erroneously attribute it to a Solar Eclipse, despite the impossibility during Passover.
Julius Africanus preserves these Testimonies while arguing for a Supernatural Cause.
Tacitus provides independent Roman confirmation of the crucifixion and Jesus’ historical existence.
Taken together, these references form a Non-Christian Triangulation of Major Events mentioned in the Gospels, particularly the Crucifixion, its Timing, and Unusual Phenomena surrounding it.

FACTORING THE DIAMETER OF THE EARTH AND THE DIAMETER OF THE SUN, HOW BIG OF A CELESTIAL OBJECT, LIKE ANOTHER PLANET WOULD HAVE TO BE TO ENTIRELY ECLIPSE THE SUN AND HAVE THE ENTIRE EARTH GO DARK AS IT WOULD TRAVEL IN-BETWEEN THE SUN AND THE EARTH?
To determine the Size of a Celestial Object (like a Planet) required to completely eclipse the Sun as seen from Earth, we need to compare the Angular Size of the Sun from Earth with the Angular Size of the Eclipsing Object.
PLANET X ECLIPSE CALCULATIONS
Diameter of Earth: ~12,742 KM 7,917.512 Miles.
Diameter of the Sun: ~1,391,000 KM / 864,327.3 Miles.
Distance from Earth to Sun (AU): ~149,000,000 KM / 94,509,460 Miles.
Angular Diameter of the Sun from Earth: ~0.53° (about 32 Arcminutes).
____________________
1. Angular Size Formula
The Angular Diameter (θ) in Radians of an Object is:
Θ = D/d
Where:
D = Diameter of the Object
d = Distance to the Object
To block the Sun entirely, the Object must have an Angular Diameter ≥ 0.53° as seen from Earth.
WHAT IF YOU WANT THE WHOLE EARTH TO GO DARK?
At a Global Scale, the Day-Side Eclipse (not just the Narrow Path like a Solar Eclipse), then, the Object must completely block the Sun’s Light across the entire Sunlit Hemisphere of Earth.
This requires the Object to be large enough, and at the right Distance, to cast a Shadow that envelops the entire Earth.
That Shadow (Umbra) Size depends on Geometry — and to cover all of Earth’s Sunlit Side, the Object must be at the correct Size and Distance so that its Umbral Cone's Cross-Section of the Object is at least Earth’s Diameter (~12,742 km).
For a rough estimate:
A Planet about the size of Neptune (~50,000 KM in Diameter), located Midway between Earth and the Sun, would cast a Shadow wide enough to darken the entire Earth.
Conclusion:
To darken the entire Earth at once: A Body tens of thousands of Kilometers wide (like a Gas Giant or large Rocky Planet) must pass between the Earth and the Sun at a much closer range than the Sun.

Here below is a Chart one made to help depict and approximate, Mathematically with the assistance of ChatGPT, just how big the Celestial Body had to be to entirely block-out the Light of the entire Sun-Lit Hemisphere that faces the Sun during the Crucifixion of Jesus. One contends that the 3 Hours of Darkness from Noon to 3pm on Wednesday, April 14, 32 AD was not due to an Overcast, Bad Weather or a Natural Phenomenon.
No, it was a Solar Eclipse as one has presents the Historical Evidence from Julius Africanus, who quoted Thallus as interviewing those that were either Eye Witnesses or had 1st Hand Knowledge, that it was indeed a Solar Eclipse had occurred that Day. And? Well, this is impossible, naturally because in that same 24-Hour Period, you had the Total Lunar Eclipse or Blood Moon occur in the Constellation of Libra, on the other side of the Hemisphere. The Point is that the Moon had to be in-between the Sun and the Earth to have a Solar Eclipse.
This Phenomena is what the Prophet Joel foretold about the Sun, Moon and the Stars. It was not and it is not just mere Jewish Poetry. Literally, on that Day of the Jesus’ Crucifixion, the Sun turned Black as Sackcloth. The Moon turned Red as Blood. And the Stars came out in Mid-Day. So, one wanted to provide the Mathematical Formula that calculates that for the entire Hemisphere to have gone Dark, the Celestial Object would have needed to be 7X larger than Earth.
A comparative size would be the Planet Neptune. And that based on the Mathematical Variables, it had to Flyby approximately halfway the Distance, in-between the Sun and the Earth. What one has presented already is that these specific Flybys of the ‘Red Dragon’ occurred back during the Exodus of the Israelites on Nisan 15 and will again, in one’s Calculation on 2nd Passover in 2032.
One is convinced that the Flyby of this Planet X will be used to inflict the Divine Seal, Trumpet and Bowl Judgments during the 7-Year Tribulation Period, in that Post-Rapture Luciferian World Order. The Calamities and Catastrophes that are coming upon the Earth are unimaginable. But they are recorded as best the Apostle John knew how from the Language and Vocabulary he was only familiar with, etc. Thank Jesus that He promised His Bride to be spared from the Wrath to come
